Reds retain rookie Lane at five-eighth

The Queensland Reds have retained rookie Sam Lane at five-eighth and welcomed unerring goalkicker Mike Harris back from injury at inside centre for Friday night’s Super Rugby clash with the Stormers.

Reds coach Ewen McKenzie has shown faith in Lane, 21, who made an impressive debut in the 20-13 win over Brumbies a fortnight ago, despite having both Harris and fellow playmaker Ben Lucas fit and available.

Lucas will return from his hamstring injury on the bench while McKenzie has moved Ben Tapuai from inside centre to outside centre to accommodate Harris, who kicked 16 straight goals at the start of the season.

Wallabies No.8 Radike Samo has been promoted to start at the back of the scrum in the only change to Queensland’s pack.

Young flanker Liam Gill moves back to the bench.

Reds: Luke Morahan, Rod Davies, Ben Tapuai, Mike Harris, Dom Shipperley, Sam Lane, Will Genia; Radike Samo, Beau Robinson, Scott Higginbotham, James Horwill (capt), Rob Simmons, James Slipper, James Hanson, Ben Daley. Res: Albert Anae, Greg Holmes, Van Humphries, Jake Schatz, Liam Gill, Ben Lucas, Nick Frisby
