Reds name unchanged line-up for Chiefs

Queensland coach Richard Graham has named an unchanged starting side for Reds greats Will Genia and James Horwill’s home farewell Super Rugby game at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

Horwill will link with English club Harlequins and Genia is off to France’s Stade Francais following the World Cup, ensuring the clash with the Chiefs will be their last for the Reds at their beloved home ground.

They run out for the last time in a Reds jersey against the NSW Waratahs in Sydney on June 13, ending a forgettable season for the Reds.

The extended nine-man bench features Saia Fainga’a who is back from a rib injury and New Zealand-born Japanese Test player Hendrik Tui who may make his Reds debut.

One player will be omitted from the bench before kick-off.

However the match will be all about Horwill and Genia who boast a combined total of 232 caps for Queensland, first playing together in round two in 2007.

Horwill is the most-capped Reds captain (69) and led Queensland to the 2011 title with Genia as his deputy.

The pair will be honoured before and after the game with fans invited onto the field for a post-match ceremony.

“Playing their last home game is a big occasion for James and Will given their 10 years playing with the Queensland Reds,” Graham said.

“However we all know that what will make the night a lasting memory is the performance of the team.

“That is the best way to show the guys how much they value their contributions.”
