Reds name 23-man squad for Brumbies clash

The Queensland Reds have included flanker Beau Robinson and utility back Ben Lucas in a 23-man squad for Saturday night’s pivotal Super Rugby clash with the Brumbies in Canberra.

Reds coach Ewen McKenzie will finalise his starting team and bench before the defending champions’ last training session on Friday afternoon.

Lucas, who started at fullback in the 34-20 win over the Lions before moving into five-eighth in the second half, has been struggling with a groin strain but McKenzie is keen to give him more time than usual to prove his fitness.

Robinson has been hampered by an ankle problem the past three weeks and missed the Lions clash to ensure he was 100 per cent for the match against the Australian conference leaders.

Robinson and fellow ball-scavenger Liam Gill played a key role at the breakdown in their 20-13 win over the Brumbies on Good Friday and the former Waratah could well start again on Saturday night.

Reds squad: Forwards – Ben Daley, Saia Faingaa, Liam Gill, Scott Higginbotham, James Hanson, Greg Holmes, James Horwill (capt), Eddie Quirk, Beau Robinson, Jake Schatz, James Slipper, Rob Simmons, Adam Wallace-Harrison. Backs – Quade Cooper, Chris F’Sautia, Anthony Faingaa, Nick Frisby, Will Genia, Mike Harris, Digby Ioane, Ben Lucas, Luke Morahan, Dom Shipperley
