Queensland Reds coach Richard Graham says he hopes the Wallabies’ new eligibility rules will make Quade Cooper think twice about a move to France next year.
Cooper is back in Australia after visiting Top 14 glamour side Toulon this week, where he is reportedly poised to sign a two-year contract.
Currently on 53 caps, Cooper will still be able to qualify for Wallabies selection in 2015 if he plays seven more Test matches before the year is out – which, given his struggles with injury this season, is no guarantee.
The Reds have not given up hope of retaining their star five-eighth and Graham said on Thursday the Australian Rugby Union’s new policy could sway his decision.
