Wallabies rookie Chris Feauai-Sautia’s history of hamstring dramas has continued in a worry for the Queensland Reds.

Feauai-Sautia has been sent home from the Reds’ tour of South Africa after waking with hamstring soreness on Wednesday, a day after completing a full training session in Johannesburg.

The 20-year-old three-quarter has been in fine form since winning the contentious No.13 jersey in round four, scoring two tries in the 43-33 win over the Cheetahs.

But while he’ll be missed against the Lions this weekend, the bigger concern is whether Feauai-Sautia – who repeatedly suffered hamstring tears and strains as a schoolboy – needs a longer stint on the sidelines.

The two-Test Wallabies back will undergo scans once he returns to Brisbane.

“It doesn’t look like anything major but given his history we thought it was appropriate,” coach Richard Graham told AAP.

“And we’ve got two Wallabies in Taps (Ben Tapuai) and (Anthony) Fainga’a so we’ve got a lot of confidence in our squad.”

Tapuai is now set to start in place of Feauai-Satutia at outside centre at Ellis Park with Fainga’a moving on to the reserves bench.

In a further blow to Queensland, beaten 35-20 by the Sharks last weekend, reserve prop Ben Daley will be sidelined for six weeks after scans detected a grade two medial ligament strain.
