Rebels sign prop Ah-Nau to new rugby deal

The Melbourne Rebels have rewarded rising prop Cruze Ah-Nau with a new contract that will keep him at the Super Rugby club until the end of the 2015 season.

Ah-Nau, who was a member of the Western Force academy before moving to Melbourne, has made five appearances this season, including starting the past two games.

The 23-year-old impressed coach Tony McGahan in his opportunities.

“His starts against really strong front-rows in the last two games (Sharks and Hurricanes) have been impressive, with him being able to hold his own and contribute around the pitch,” McGahan said.

“His progress and improvement this year has been terrific, and we’re delighted he’s continuing his time in Melbourne.”

Ah-Nau will start the Rebels’ clash with Queensland in Brisbane on Saturday night from the bench following the return from injury of Toby Smith.
