South Africa-born prop Reg Goodes is in line to make his Super Rugby debut after being named in the Hurricanes squad to face the Chiefs in Hamilton on Saturday.
Goodes, 20, has been sidelined for the opening 10 weeks of the season with a shoulder injury but has been named on the bench for the match against the table-topping Chiefs.
Coach Mark Hammett welcomes back halfback TJ Perenara and wingers Cory Jane and Julian Savea to the starting side after the trio missed the thumping by the Crusaders through injury and illness.
Perenara has recovered from an ankle injury suffered while playing basketball, while Jane’s ankle complaint is not as bad as first feared and Savea is over the illness that forced the Hurricanes to rejig their back-three last week.
Alapati Leiua and Chris Eaton move to the bench and winger Richard Buckman drops out of the squad altogether.
Flanker Jack Lam is on the bench after overcoming a head knock suffered against the Sharks while Goodes’ inclusion forces Michael Bent out of the squad.
