Bulls and Springboks flanker Dewald Potgieter will probably miss the first two months of the Super Rugby season after badly cutting his arm trying to open a toilet window at a wedding.
Potgieter sliced through three tendons in his wrist and lower arm Saturday when the glass shattered as he tried to force open the window from inside the bathroom at a friend’s wedding on South Africa’s south coast.
After surgery to repair the damaged tendons, Potgieter said on Monday “the doctor did a great job … I’m just a bit frustrated because I was looking forward to playing on Friday.”
Potgieter, who turns 25 this week, said he wanted to open the small window because he thought he heard a team mate outside fall and call out.
