Pisi at five-eighth for Hurricanes

The Hurricanes have rejigged their backline, with Tusi Pisi taking over at five-eighth for their Super Rugby match against the Blues in Auckland.

The Samoan international will make his first appearance of the season in the starting 15 when he runs on at Eden Park on Saturday night.

He replaces All Black Beauden Barrett in the No.10 jersey, with Barrett going to fullback and Andre Taylor moving to the bench.

Assistant coach Alama Ieremia says Pisi offers a different style of attack and has versatility in being able to operate also at inside centre and fullback.

“Beauden is experienced at fullback and having him in this position gives us another option,” Ieremia said.

In the forwards, Ben Franks, who missed last weekend’s 41-29 win over the Waratahs with a lower back strain, has been bracketed with Reggie Goodes at loosehead prop.

There is also a bracket on the bench, with Dane Coles and Ash Dixon the options for back-up hooker.

Among those unavailable for selection were Victor Vito (calf) and Jeremy Thrush (ankle).

The sides met in round one in Wellington, with the Blues coming out on top 34-20.
