NSW Waratahs’ Horne banned for one week

NSW Waratahs winger Rob Horne has copped a one-week suspension ruling him out of Saturday’s match against the Stormers in Cape Town.

Horne was suspended for a dangerous tackle by SANZAR duty judicial officer Jannie Lubbe after pleading guilty, having been cited over his high swinging arm which caught Sharks centre on the jaw at the weekend.

Rubbing further salt into the Waratahs’ wounds from their ill-tempered loss to the Sharks in Durban, Steyn escaped with an “off-field yellow card” after being cited for a backslamming tackle that left Kurtley Beale dazed.

While the Waratahs lose Horne for the clash with the Stormers, they expect to be able to select star fullback Israel Folau who missed the Sharks clash due to a knock to the throat suffered against the Melbourne Rebels in their previous match.

They’re also expecting Beale to be fit to play.
