No word on Cheika’s alleged sideline brush

Michael Cheika says he is still awaiting the outcome of a SANZAR investigation after a complaint was made against the NSW Waratahs coach following an apparent sideline incident in Durban.

South African broadcaster Super Sport has alleged that Cheika had a brief verbal confrontation with a camera operator during the Waratahs’ niggly Super Rugby loss to the Sharks at Kings Park Stadium 10 days ago.

While Cheika on Tuesday said he had yet to hear any more about the investigation after it was announced last week, the Waratahs privately believe the whole affair is a storm in a teacup.

Having left the coaches’ box, Cheika is understood to have brushed the camera operator away after being told he was not permitted to enter the playing field to offer lock Kane Douglas some lineout calling advice after skipper Dave Dennis was yellow-carded.
