Despite being $67 long shots to win the Super Rugby 15 championship, the Melbourne Rebels have been tipped to start the year with a win, priced at $1.35 with online bookmaker sportsbet to win their round one match against the Western Force ($3.20).
The Brumbies also look likely to get an early win, priced at $1.57 over the Reds ($2.40).
Despite being underdogs in round 1, the Reds look the most capable out of the Australian teams, priced at $12 to win the championship. The Crusaders are the overall favourites to go all the way at $4.50 ahead of the Chiefs and Stormers at $7.00.
“The market suggests that the Aussies may struggle this year, with the Reds and Waratahs our best hopes at $12 and $13. It looks set to be a long year for the Rebels, but at least they may get a win under their belt early in round 1,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
