The man Kiwis love to hate Quade Cooper knees a prone McCaw in the head while getting up from a ruck in the Wallabies’ 25-20 win in Brisbane but escapes a ban after saying it was accidental.

– v France, Oct 2011

McCaw, playing the Rugby World Cup final with a broken foot, had his eye gouged by French centre Aurelien Rougerie late in the match that the All Blacks won 8-7. He avoids being cited as footage emerges of the incident past the 36-hour citing window.

– v South Africa, Sept 2012

Replacement prop Dean Greyling is sin-binned after landing a forearm to McCaw’s face at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium. Greyling copped a two-week ban and the All Blacks won 21-11.

– v Australia, Oct 2012

Scott Higginbotham headbutts McCaw on the ground and then follows it up with a knee to his head in the 18-18 draw in Brisbane. He earns a four-week ban and is left out of the Wallabies’ squad to tour Europe.
