Wallabies great Michael Lynagh will be released from hospital in Brisbane on Wednesday after suffering a stroke two weeks ago.

The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital released a statement on Tuesday saying Lynagh and his medical specialists would be available to speak to the media upon his release.

Lynagh, 48, was admitted to hospital after complaining of dizziness.

It was later diagnosed as a stroke and his condition was at one stage critical but he has recovered sufficiently enough in order to leave hospital.

The now London-based rugby star was a permanent feature of Wallabies teams throughout the mid 1980s to 90s.

One of the leading five-eighths and goalkickers of his era, he played 72 Tests for Australia and was a key plank in the Wallabies’ 1991 World Cup triumph, where he scored a crucial try in the quarter-final against Ireland.
