Lima Sopoaga to start for All Blacks

All Blacks flyhalf Lima Sopoaga has been recalled to the Test side for the first time in over two years as a replacement for Beauden Barrett, who was ruled out of the final Bledisloe Cup Test against Australia.

Barrett was ruled out due to concussion issues stemming from the All Blacks 25-24 win over South Africa in early October.

Sopoaga’s only previous Test start was on debut against the Springboks in July, 2015 and he has since made 11 other appearances off the bench.

Coach Steve Hansen only made one other change with Waisake Naholo coming on to the right wing for Nehe Milner-Skudder, who suffered a dislocated shoulder against South Africa.

The All Blacks have already retained the Bledisloe Cup but Hansen says the Wallabies will be desperate for a win.

“They’ll be desperate to win as they haven’t done so for some time,” Hansen said.

“For us, our goal is to never be satisfied at where we’re at, and that means it’s greater than just the outcome. It’s about how we play, individually and collectively as a unit.”
