Promising Sharks centre Paul Jordaan will mark up against an in-form Sonny Bill Williams at inside centre in Saturday’s Super Rugby final against the Chiefs in Hamilton.
Jordaan replaces regular starter Tim Whitehead, who fractured his hand in last week’s 26-19 semi-final win over the Stormers in Cape Town.
Springbok wing JP Pietersen starts at centre, while Patrick Lambie gets the nod at fullback ahead of Riaan Viljoen.
Coach John Plumtree says the Sharks take a great deal of confidence from the fact they have a near full-strength squad.
“There has been some continuity of selection which has been great. At this time of the competition it’s really important,” he said.
“But at the same time, we’ve had some injuries as well, particularly to our midfield so it’s fantastic having Pat Lambie and Paul Jordaan coming back into contention.”
There are no other changes to the Sharks, with Plumtree having the luxury of being able to select the same pack that has done the job for him in recent weeks.
Sharks: Patrick Lambie, Louis Ludik, JP Pietersen, Paul Jordaan, Lwazi Mvovo, Frederic Michalak, Charl McLeod, Ryan Kankowski, Marcell Coetzee, Keegan Daniel (capt), Anton Bresler, Willem Alberts, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira. Reserves: Craig Burden, Wiehahn Herbst, Steven Sykes, Jacques Botes, Jean Deysel, Meyer Bosman, Riaan Viljoen.
