The Queensland Reds have suffered a blow ahead of this weekend’s Super Rugby clash against the Stormers in Cape Town with Wallabies winger Digby Ioane ruled out due to injury.
Ioane injured his left knee in the Reds’ 27-13 loss to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Sunday morning (AEST) and is flying back home to Brisbane, returning late Monday, to have scans.
The Queensland Rugby Union said the soft tissue injury was not considered serious, but further assessment was required.
The Reds haven’t sent for a replacement.
Ioane’s loss could open the door for centre Ben Tapuai to return to the starting team and Chris Feauai-Sautia move to the wing.
