Israel Folau says he prefers to play at outside centre but believes he will be more effective for the Wallabies at fullback in Saturday’s first Test against England in Brisbane.
There was speculation Wallabies coach Michael Cheika might switch Folau from fullback to the centres after impressive Super Rugby form at No.13 for the NSW Waratahs.
Folau said he had no idea where he would play, on the eve of Thursday’s team announcement, but admitted it might be best if he kept the No.15 jersey.
“I have really enjoyed the shift to outside centre for the Waratahs but representing Australia is another level and I think I can contribute more at 15,” Folau said.
