Hayward to join Hurricanes in Perth

The Hurricanes have summoned centre Jayden Hayward from Wellington to join their squad flying in from South Africa for Saturday’s Super Rugby clash with the Western Force in Perth.

Hayward was called as a precaution with both starting centres Tim Bateman and Alapati Leiua nursing hamstring injuries after the thrilling 30-28 win over the Lions in Johannesburg at the weekend.

Hard hit by the loss of senior players including All Blacks Piri Weepu, Ma’a Nonu and Andrew Hore to other franchises in the off-season, the Hurricanes have made a decent start to the season.

They pushed the Stormers in the first round before losing 39-26 in Cape Town before beating the Lions.

The Western Force are still looking for their first win after away losses to the Brumbies and Queensland Reds.
