Giteau’s new two-year Toulon rugby deal

Former Wallaby Matt Giteau on Thursday signed a two-year extension to his contract with big-spending French Top 14 rugby side Toulon, a club spokesman said.

The 30-year-old Giteau, who arrived in the summer of 2011, joined French international Alexis Palisson, who has signed for an additional three years, in putting pen to paper.

“I am very happy, another two years. I love Toulon a lot as well as the challenge of the European Cup. Oh, the French language!! Thank-you for your messages,” Giteau wrote on his Twitter account.

The new deal for Giteau, who played 91 times for Australia, will take him through until 2015.

Toulon lead the Top 14 and face Bayonne on Saturday.
