Injury has ruled French playmaker Morgan Parra out of the three-Test series against the All Blacks next month.
Prolific pointscorer Parra, 24, aggravated a thigh problem during his Clermont Auvergne club’s 25-9 loss to Castres in a domestic French Top 14 semi-final on Saturday.
A Clermont statement said the injury affected his running and goalkicking, forcing him out of the tour, which begins with a Test in Auckland on June 8.
The versatile Parra has played 51 Tests at halfback or five-eighth and scored 288 points.
He was a key figure in France’s run to the 2011 World Cup final in Auckland, where he suffered an early injury and was replaced at No.10.
Parra’s place in the tour squad goes to Toulouse halfback Jean-Marc Doussain, 22, whose only Test cap was as a late replacement in the World Cup decider.
Doussain will be among the initial touring party leaving for New Zealand on Tuesday.
Players from Toulon and Castres join the squad on June 2 after contesting the Top 14 final the day before.
France play Tests in Auckland, Christchurch and New Plymouth as well as a match against the Blues on June 11.
