Five-eighth David Harvey has turned his short-term deal into a Super Rugby future with the Western Force at age 29, signing on for the 2013 season.
The two-time Sydney club player of the year was originally recruited for just four weeks to help the Force through an injury crisis but he has started in every game since arriving for round four and has also taken over the goalkicking duties.
Harvey’s performances in a struggling team were enough to secure terms for the rest of the season and also 2013.
“The offer of a short term contract was amazing and when my original goal to turn that into a full contract for the remainder of the season was realised I was really happy,” said Harvey.
“To get another year on top of that is unbelievable and something that I had hoped would be an option at the end of this season but for it to come so early is a fantastic feeling.”
