Folau to stay with Wallabies

Israel Folau is expected to announce he will re-sign with the Australian Rugby Union and NSW Waratahs at a press conference on Thursday morning.

The ARU and Waratahs called a press conference in Sydney’s southwest for 8.45am in which Folau is set to commit to the 15-man game.

The former rugby league and AFL player was believed to have fielded an offer to return to the NRL with Canterbury but will reject it to continue his rugby career.

Folau, 24, who was a rugby league international but a flop in AFL, has been outstanding in his first year of rugby.

A standout player for the Waratahs in the Super Rugby season in which he was named rookie of the year, the fullback/winger has also impressed with limited opportunities for the Wallabies, scoring three tries from his first five Tests.
