Fiji No.8 Sisa Koyamaibole will be unavailable for his nation’s tour of Europe next month after receiving a 12-week ban for biting an opponent in a club rugby match.
Koyamaibole admitted in a hearing in Dublin on Thursday to biting London Irish flanker Declan Danaher while playing for Bordeaux in a European Challenge Cup match last Saturday.
The judiciary decided that because Danaher’s injury was minimal that Koyamaibole be issued a suspension at the lower end of the scale. He faced a ban of up to four years.
Koyamaibole can’t play again until January 7, meaning he will miss Fiji Tests against England, Ireland and Georgia, and several more club matches.
