Chris Alcock re-signs with Western Force

Western Force flanker Chris Alcock has re-signed for a further two seasons, saying he’s confident the Perth-based franchise can reach even greater heights next year.

The Force won a franchise-record nine games in 2014, but their finals hopes were ended when they lost to the Brumbies in the final round.

Alcock, who made 25 appearances for the Waratahs before moving to Perth in 2013, was limited to just three appearances this season due to a serious shoulder injury.

The 26-year-old, who played ever game in 2013, feels something special is brewing at the Force and jumped at the chance to re-sign until the end of 2016.

“When I signed on originally I felt this was a team on the way up,” Alcock said.

“Last year we showed some of that potential and lost several close games.

“This year we took that experience and learned from it.

“We’re showing that we’re a team to be reckoned with and we’re all very driven to take it to the next step next year.”

With skipper Matt Hodgson, Ben McCalman, Angus Cottrell, Brynard Stander and Alcock all locked in for next year, competition for spots in the back row will be fierce.

“If you’re feeling comfortable in a position you’re not being pushed and you’re not going to be playing at your best,” Alcock said.

“I think we’re all pushing each other to be the best players we can be.”
