The British and Irish Lions continue to attract heavy support at Sportingbet to win tonight’s tour match against the Melbourne Rebels, with punters predicting the visitors will pile on the points.
“We set the line at 18.5 points but after taking a considerable amount of bets on the Lions to cover the start, that’s now out to 19.5 points,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.
“This is the last match of the tour for the second string side so punters are expecting a big performance and for them to bounce back hard after losing to the Brumbies,” Brown said.
The Lions are $1.05 with Sportingbet to win the tour match, with the Rebels $10.50 outsiders.
Meantime, Australia is $2.40 with Sportingbet for the second test against the Lions on Saturday night. The Lions are $1.57.
“It’s the exact same odds they opened for the first test but if the Wallabies can kick some goals, they might just be value at that price despite all of their injuries,” Brown said.
The Lions are now clear-cut $1.18 favourites with Sportingbet to win the series, with Australia at $5.00.
The Lions are $2.25 to win the series 2-1 or $2.40 to win the series 3-0.
