Following speculation that Leigh Nugent will be leaving Swimming Australia, online bookmaker sportsbet has reopened the market on who will be the next to dive into the deep end and coach the Australian swim team.

The market remains very even, with Michael Bohl, Alan Thompson and Grant Stoelwinder all equal favourites at $6.00.

Ian Thorpe’s former coach Doug Frost is also a real contender at $7.00, while former champions Kieran Perkins and Susie O’Neill have also been given some hope at $21.

After his failed comeback, Ian Thorpe is a long shot at $101 while coaching genius Ric Charlesworth is $501 to cross from hockey to the swimming pool. Stephanie Rice, Michael Phelps and Lawrie Lawrence are also outsiders at $501.

“Nugent has sunk but there is no shortage of contenders who could step up. At this stage we can’t split Bohl, Thompson and Stoelwinder and Doug Frost is right up there, so the market is extremely even,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
