Magnussen dominant in SA State Champs

World 100m freestyle champion James Magnussen sounded a warning ahead of Olympic swimming trials in March with a dominant win at the South Australian championships on Friday.

Magnussen clocked 48.05 seconds, the quickest time in the world this year, to finish ahead of Matt Abood (49.85) and Eamon Sullivan (50.63) in the 100m final.

“It’s great to be able to race quality opposition at a state meet, it helps me to judge where I’m at and after that race I’m happy with where I am in my preparation,” Magnussen said.

Other winners included Jayden Hadler in the men’s 100m butterfly, Daniel Arnamnart in the 50m backstroke and Blair Evans in the women’s 400m individual medley.
