Men’s Skeet
BET: Tammaro Cassandro (ITA) at $7.00
The betting in this one is very strange. Vincent Hancock is the star of the discipline but the veteran is absolutely on the downside of his career after golds at Beijing and London. Cassandro, by contrast, is the star on the up. He won silver in the 2019 World Champs as well as the 2019 European Champs and has a gold and a bronze at two World Cups this year.
WEIGHTLIFTING
Women’s 55kg – Gold
BET: Liao Quiyun (CHN) at $1.17
Chinese lifter Quiyun is short but not nearly short enough. She holds the world record, she is unbeaten in major competition in recent years and lifts at least 10kg better than the closest competitor. Just wins and is perfect to fill out some Monday Olympic multis.
FENCING
Women’s Individual Sabre – Gold
BET: Olha Kharlan (UKR) at $2.40
Fascinating Ukranian star who is the No.1 female sabre wielder in the world, a member of the national team since the tender age of 14 and a renowned politician. She claimed bronze at Rio and has been dominant since. Won the Grand Prix and a World Cup last season and the World Champs, a Grand Prix and a World Cup the year prior.
SWIMMING
Women’s 400m Freestyle – Gold
BET: Arianne Titmus (AUS) at $1.57
The short odds actually seem a spoil here. Legend Katie Ledecky has long dominated this event but Titmus swam the second fastest time in history at the Trials with a sizzling 3:56.90. Ledecky has not run sub 3:59 since mid-2018. The Australian should etch herself into history here.
Women’s 100m Backstroke – Gold
BET: Kylie Masse (CAN) at $SP.00
Outstanding race with four genuine chances. Australian Kaylee McKeown is a deserved favourite after smashing the world record at the Australian trials. That was a very fast pool though. Masse recorded the fourth fastest time of all-time this year and was just 0.07s shy of McKeown’s Sydney Open swim.
Women’s 1500m Freestyle – Gold
BET: Katie Ledecky (USA) at $1.12
A moral to fill out any multis. A very short price but it looks plenty of value for someone who has swum the 11 fastest and 17 of the 21 fastest times over the distance in history. She will not be losing.
Men’s 200m Freestyle – Gold
BET: Katsuhiro Masumoto (JAP) at $SP.00
The men’s 200m freestyle is a wide open affair and local hope Katsuhiro Masumoto looks a major chance here. He has twice broken the Japanese record this year and his swim at the national champs was the third fastest 200m of the year and just 0.18s shy of favourite Duncan Scott.
