WEIGHTLIFTING

Women’s 64kg – Gold

BET: Mercedes Perez (COL) at $2.60

The best 64kg lifter in the world is out of the Olympics with Deng Wei not here. Betting has this as a two-horse race and weightlifting results typically go close to the market. Happy to take the outsider here. Maude Charron, the favourite, looks too short. Mercedes Perez has dominated the Pan American scene and been in the third-fourth range on the world stage since Rio. With Deng Wei not here, she is more than capable of lifting the gold.

SWIMMING

Men’s 200m Butterfly – Medal

BET: Federico Burdisso (ITA) at $3.75

This will be a procession for WR holder Kristof Milak, who cannot be beaten. Silver and bronze though are most definitely up for grabs and more than happy to take Italian Burdisso to grab one at $3.75. He has the fastest time this year out of anyone not named Kristof Milak and has medalled at the last two European Championships.

Men’s 100m Freestyle – Gold

BET: Kliment Kolosnikov at $10.00

The men’s 100m freestyle is one of the events of the swimming program and it is wide open with four genuine contenders. Russian Kliment Kolosnikov is the value in this one. He has been swimming great this year with his best the second best time of the year by just 0.01s. Has three of the top six times this year. Favourites Dressel and Chalmers have certainly not peaked in 2021. Worth a bet for gold and a medal.

Men’s 4×200 Freestyle – Gold

BET: Great Britain at $2.25

No idea how Team GB are not favoured here. The two fastest 200m swims this year have been from Brits Duncan Scott and Tom Dean. Veteran James Guy was part of the team that claimed silver in this event in Rio. Look far better value than their Australian counterparts.

Men’s 800m Freestyle – Gold

BET: Ayoub Hafanoui (TUN) at $3.60

The Tunisian swimmer was absolutely sensational winning the 400m freestyle gold on Sunday from the eight lane. Went out extremely hard and just kept pushing. The 400-800 double is fairly commonplace at the World Champs so that was as good a trial as you could hope for. Has the fifth fastest 800m time this year but smashed PBs in the 400m.

ROWING

Womens Quadruple Skulls – Gold

BET: China at $1.08

No retirement price but this is absolutely free dosh. China have smashed their opposition at every opportunity between their 2019 World Championship win and now. Rowed 4s faster than the second closest heat time. Just a dominant force who can liven up every multi.

ARCHERY

Men’s Individual – Gold

BET: Galsan Bazarzhapov (ROC) at $SP.00

Clearly no moral at the price but he is the No.2 ranked archer in the world at present. The Koreans have, of course, been off the world stage and loom as three of the four major players here but if there is an upset on the cards it will be from the Russian who has two golds this year.
