Australia could see their first medal at the Winter Olympics come sooner rather than later, with Dale Begg-Smith firming from $151 to $26 with online bookmaker sportsbet to win gold in the Freestlye Skiing – Men’s Moguls.
Begg-Smith has been the second best backed competitor, only behind red hot gold medal favourite Mikael Kingsbury who is $1.53.
Matt Graham is also considered a genuine medal chance at $34 with fellow Aussie Brodie Summer still an outsider at $101.
“We have taken a heap of money for Begg-Smith and now have him as the fifth favourite. The punters saw the big odds we had on him at $151 and jumped all over it,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
In other medal opportunities, Anna Segal remains $26 to win the Freestyle skiing – Women’s Slopestyle and Torah Bright remains our best hope, firming from $2.50 to $2.25 to win the Snowboard – Halfpipe.
