Gerald Ryan trained Snitzerland has taken out the first race at Flemington on Newmarket Handicap day in emphatic style. Snitzerland jumped as favourite and never looked in doubt down the straight.
After jumping first out of the barriers the daughter of Snitzel went to the front of the pack and dictated the race winning by 2.8 lengths on the line. In second place was David Hayes trained Extreme Impact who ran well above his last start at Morphetville.
In third position was Darley owned Coins who was arguably the best run of the race outside of the winner after coming from last at the 200m to make up a lot of ground late.
