Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller landed the quinella in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm where Shoot Out was too good for last year’s winner Danleigh.
It was the five-year-old’s third win at the elite level after taking out the 2010 Randwick Guineas and AJC Australian Derby when trained in Queensland by John Wallace.
The gelding was having just his third start for Waller in Saturday’s 1600m $350,000 feature following placings in the Expressway and Apollo Stakes.
“I’m just the one lucky enough to take the honours today,” an emotional Waller said.
“John Wallace has done a great job with the horse.”
Winning jockey Hugh Bowman was rapt in Shoot Out’s performance.
“He was dominant,” he said.
“It was just lovely to see him get back in the winner’s stall in a Group One race.
“He’s a unique horse.”
Danleigh tried hard to peg back his stablemate in the straight to no avail, while Trusting was a solid third.
The win took Shoot Out’s record to eight wins and eight placings from 27 starts for prize money in excess of $2.1 million.
