A hat-trick from winger Tom Lineham has helped Warrington move to the top of the Super League with a comfortable 48-12 victory over London Broncos.
The Wolves leapfrogged local rivals St Helens to head the table on points difference before the unbeaten Saints take on Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday.
The pacesetters will meet in a blockbuster clash next Friday.
As well as Lineham’s treble, former Canberra utility Blake Austin scored twice to make it six tries in two games for the influential Australian.
Also on the scoresheet for the Wolves were Josh Charnley, Jason Clark, Ryan Atkins and Stefan Ratchford, who also kicked six goals.
London claimed second half consolation tries through Nathan Mason and Matty Gee.
Veteran halfback Danny Brough came back to haunt former club Huddersfield with a late field goal while prop David Fifita scored twice for Wakefield to earn a 17-16 victory.
The ex-Giants captain made a surprise off-season switch to Belle Vue and his former employers will be rueing their decision to release him.
Brough may have delivered the knockout blow but Wakefield’s true hero was Fifita whose late tries dragged the hosts back from the brink.
Trinity had taken an early lead through Reece Lyne but tries from Jermaine McGillvary and Darnell McIntosh gave the Giants a 10-4 half-time advantage.
McIntosh thought he had given Huddersfield a third straight win with 10 minutes to go only for Fifita and Brough to consolidate Trinity’s position in the top five.
Tuoyo Egodo was the hero at Castleford as the Tigers completed a tremendous fightback to clinch a breathtaking 38-28 win over Adrian Lam’s Wigan.
Wigan led 20-0 after 22 minutes and looked to have withstood the home side’s comeback when Joe Burgess scored his second on 64 minutes to regain the lead.
However in a dramatic finish Egodo went over and former Newcastle Knight Peter Mata’utia completed the transformation with a last-second try.
