Wighton set to miss rest of NRL season

Canberra winger Jack Wighton is likely to miss the rest of the NRL season after suffering a toe injury on a backyard trampoline.

The 19-year-old was on Wednesday ruled out of Friday’s clash with South Sydney and will have surgery immediately.

A club spokesman confirmed it was more than likely Wighton would miss the entire second half of the season.

Raiders coach David Furner is understood to be unimpressed with the injury, the latest in a string of long-term casualties that have already claimed skipper Terry Campese (knee) and vice-captain Brett White (knee) for the year.
