Gareth Widdop will stay at St George Illawarra in 2019 but says he has a desire to one day play in the English Super League.

Widdop met with Dragons management on Wednesday after reports broke that he wanted to leave the Red V, but the 29-year-old said he had not asked for a release.

“I want to put to bed that I haven’t asked a release for 2019 … I will be here in 2019 and can’t wait for the season to start,” Widdop said.
