Veteran lock Micheal Luck has been ruled out of the Warriors’ NRL match against Gold Coast on Saturday night after problems with his troublesome left shoulder.
Luck missed the first half of what will be his final season as he recovered from surgery on the shoulder and on his left wrist.
He returned in mid-June and has made two appearances off the bench against Cronulla and North Queensland, but will seek further treatment for the shoulder.
“It’s not right and I need to get it looked at by the specialist,” he said on Tuesday.
Replacing Luck for the trip to Robina will be tough-tackling Steve Rapira, while utility Pita Godinet has also been added to a five-man bench.
The starting line-up is the same as the one that ran out in the 35-18 win over the Cowboys last Sunday, with winger Omar Slaimankhel officially named in the 13 for the first time.
The 20-year-old Slaimankhel’s two previous NRL appearances came after being called up late as an injury replacement.
His inclusion against the Titans means the Warriors will again have a backline with an average age of just 21 and an average of only 33 games each.
Three of the players made their debuts this year – Slaimankhel and fellow 20-year-olds Ben Henry and Konrad Hurrell.
Coach Brian McClennan said the youthful backline says a lot for the Warriors’ attitude to developing their own players, with five-eighth James Maloney the only one not to come through the club’s system.
