Warriors second rower Sione Lousi is to contest the grading of his dangerous throw charge at an NRL judiciary hearing on Thursday night.
Lousi is facing a three-match suspension after the match review committee handed him a grade two charge over the tackle in which Wests Tigers counterpart Cory Paterson landed on his head in a scary moment during Saturday’s match in Wellington.
The Warriors opted on Tuesday to seek a downgrading of the charge.
The NRL has scheduled the hearing for Thursday, rather than the usual hearing night of Wednesday, when the judicary is already set down to hear the deferred Jordan McLean charge.
Melbourne prop McLean was referred straight to the judiciary when charged last week with a dangerous throw for his part in the three-man tackle in which Newcastle forward Alex McKinnon broke his neck.
Meanwhile, Sydney Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will miss one match – Friday’s clash with Canterbury – after entering an early guilty plea for a grade two careless high tackle on Manly’s Glenn Stewart.
