Warrington snap up Roberts from Titans

Tyrone Roberts has agreed to join English Super League club Warrington on a three-year deal from the Gold Coast Titans.

Roberts is the first signing made by Warrington since the appointment of former St George Illawarra mentor Steve Price as head coach last week.

The former Newcastle Knights playmaker will strengthen the Wolves ranks in time for the 2018 season.

He said: “I’m very excited to be joining the Warrington Wolves.

“My family and I can’t wait to get over there and start this new chapter in our lives.

“I’m excited to rip in and compete for some trophies and meet all the passionate fans.”

Warrington trailed in a lowly ninth in this year’s Super League, after finishing second in the table in 2016, so are looking for a big improvement next term.

Club chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said: “The signing of Tyrone is a massive coup for Warrington and Super League.

“He is a player that has a genuine X-factor that will excite the Warrington supporters.

“We had to beat off clubs from the NRL to get Tyrone’s signature, this shows where we are heading and that we are building something special.”
