Vidot receives NRL green light from Titans

Gold Coast coach Neil Henry is confident former Brisbane winger Daniel Vidot will overcome injury and make his Titans debut in Saturday night’s NRL clash against North Queensland.

Vidot had been named to replace yet another injured Titan – winger Will Zillman (calf) – but was in doubt himself with a groin complaint.

But Henry believed Vidot would run out in Titans’ colours for the first time along with ex-Sydney Roosters centre Dale Copley against the Cowboys.

“Daniel’s been able to get a full week of training in which is good,” Henry said.

Zillman returned from injury in last round’s stirring 26-14 round three win over Parramatta – their first victory of the season – but only lasted 17 minutes before re-injuring his calf.

He is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks.

“It’s been good to have a 19-man squad to train with but we still have 11 on the injured group so there’s still a big contingent who can’t,” Henry said.

“We don’t have the numbers to do opposed sessions.”

Titans recruit Chris Grevsmuhl is expected to be blooded in the second-tier Queensland Cup for a fortnight with a round six NRL return pencilled in for the ex-Penrith forward.

Henry was also confident centre Konrad Hurrell had overcome a calf injury sustained against the Eels which restricted his training this week.
