Townsville stadium looks for new name

The home of rugby league in north Queensland is looking for a new name.

Stadiums Queensland on Thursday announced Dairy Farmers had relinquished its naming rights for the Townsville stadium, home of the North Queensland Cowboys NRL team.

The stadium has been known as Dairy Farmers Stadium since 1999 but Lion Dairy and Drinks, which owns Dairy Farmers, has given priority to investment in innovation and marketing and relinquished the naming rights to the stadium.

Stadiums Queensland will call for expressions of interest in early August.
