Wakefield’s influential Australian halfback Tim Smith has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Wildcats until the end of 2014.
It is the second new deal the 27-year-old former Wigan and Parramatta player has signed in four months after initially joining the club from Cronulla on a one-year deal last November.
He agreed a one-year extension in July but Wakefield were keen to retain him for longer after he played a key role in helping them reach the Super League play-offs.
“I am really happy,” Smith said. “It’s all about security signing for an extra year. We had a successful season and the club is certainly going somewhere and I really am happy here.
“When you are in this game you don’t want to be on one-year deals because you don’t know what is around the corner so I am delighted to get it done.”
