Tigers sweating on Woods’ fitness

Wests Tigers are sweating on the fitness of forward leader Aaron Woods ahead of their clash with the monster Canterbury pack on Friday.

Woods was limping and in a knee brace at a Tigers recovery session on Monday.

The Tigers prop is scheduled to have scans on his right leg on Monday afternoon after jarring his knee in the side’s 20-6 loss to South Sydney on Sunday.

Woods told reporters he would be right to face the Bulldogs but spent the recovery session receiving treatment from a Tigers physiotherapist away from the main playing group.

Woods has run for over 200 metres in all three of the Tigers’ three games this season and his go-forward would be badly missed against the formidable Bulldogs pack at ANZ Stadium.

“(Woods) has been a massive part of our go-forward and if we lose him then it will be a massive loss,” Tigers five-eighth Mitchell Moses said.

“It’s going to be a big test this week, it was a massive test yesterday with their big pack and I thought we handled (Souths) not too bad but they probably got over the top of us towards the end and held the ball.”
