Tigers re-sign Nofoaluma on long-term deal

Wests Tigers have started 2021 with a bang after re-signing fan favourite David Nofoaluma on a four-year NRL deal.

The 27-year-old was open to offers on the NRL market and attracted plenty of interest from rivals before putting pen to paper with his junior club this week.

It’s a huge boost for the Tigers and a show of loyalty from one of their biggest stars, who is desperate to play finals football with the club.

In eight seasons of NRL Nofoaluma is yet to play finals, but his re-signing is a show of faith that the Tigers are moving in the right direction under coach Michael Maguire.

His retention adds to the recent signings of former Penrith captain James Tamou, former Origin centre James Roberts and Queensland prop Joe Ofahengaue.

Nofoaluma was one of the hottest finishers in 2020, scoring 17 tries in 20 games for the club.

Across 139 games for the Tigers he has scored 74 tries and is almost certain to become the club’s highest tryscorer across the next four years, overtaking Chris Lawrence and Benji Marshall on 84 tries each.

It’s understood the Tigers will make an official announcement on Thursday afternoon.
