North Queensland are breathing a sigh of relief after co-captain Johnathan Thurston ran for the first time this week at training on Friday ahead of the NRL grand final against Brisbane.
Thurston appears in little doubt for Sunday’s decider after moving freely at training at Leichhardt Oval, showing no sign of groin and calf niggles that had restricted him over the last month.
The four-time Dally M Medallist had taken part at training this week but Friday marked the first time he ran at their sessions.
Both teams have their final training run at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.
