Thurston, Scott to miss NRL finals launch

North Queensland stars Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott will miss the NRL’s finals launch as they battle injury.

However, the club’s co-captains are expected to be fit for Saturday night’s qualifying final against Melbourne at AAMI Park.

Thurston is aiming to overcome a corked leg sustained in Cowboys’ win over the Gold Coast, with the club’s medical staff concerned about the playmaker’s travel schedule.

Had Thurston travelled to the launch on Monday, he would have been forced to make a return trip from Townsville to Sydney before flying to Melbourne.

The four-time Dally M Medallist also reportedly struggled with a bout of tonsillitis in the lead-up to last weekend’s game.

Scott missed the Titans’ clash with a leg injury.

Jason Taumalolo will represent the Cowboys’ at the launch.
