James Tamou believes giant front-rower Andrew Fifita is the player that could make the difference for NSW against Queensland in State of Origin game one next Wednesday.
Fifita is one of the few players in the game who dwarfs the 194cm, 114kg North Queensland prop with the Cronulla man tipping the scales at 117kg and measuring 196cm.
The 24-year-old has been magnificent in the Sharks’ recent run of four straight wins and Tamou said he cannot wait to pack down with him against the Maroons.
“I’ve been very impressed with him,” Tamou said.
“Everyone knows he’s the most in-form player going around, but what has impressed me is his enthusiasm. He so pleased to be here.
“He’s had a few games where he clocked up a couple of hundred metres. For a man of his size that is very impressive.”
Tamou’s Cowboys teammate Matt Scott is the key man in the Queensland pack and he said his Test team partner can expect a tough test from Fifita.
“Fifita has got a lot to bring the team, he is a wide-running front-rower with great footwork,” he said.
“He could definitely be the difference in the forwards. If I had advice for him it would be to take it as it comes, but he’s been so excited.”
