Preview:

The Sydney Roosters play the New Zealand Warriors on Sunday, 6.00pm at Allianz Stadium. This should be a great game, with the Warriors winning their last three matches and the Roosters at home coming off a bye and a win against the Eels. After their massive 60 point loss to the Panthers a few weeks back, the Warriors have looked like a team with something to prove, and the Roosters will have to watch out. At third place on the ladder, however, and with the best defensive record in the comp, it’s hard to go past the Roosters for this one.

Teams:

Sydney Roosters:
Anthony Minichiello (c), Daniel Tupou, Michael Jennings, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, James Maloney, Mitchell Pearce, Luke O’Donnell, Jake Friend, Martin Kennedy, Mitchell Aubusson, Sonny Bill Williams, Boyd Cordner. Interchange: Daniel Mortimer, Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Aidan Guerra, Isaac Liu

New Zealand Warriors:
Kevin Locke, Glen Fisiiahi, Dane Nielsen, Konrad Hurrell, Manu Vatuvei, Thomas Leuluai, Shaun Johnson, Sam Rapira, Nathan Friend, Russell Packer, Feleti Mateo, Simon Mannering (c), Elijah Taylor. Interchange: Ben Matulino, Jacob Lillyman, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Dominique Peyroux, Ngani Laumape, Suaia Matagi, Charlie Gubb

I’m going nowhere: Rooster Kenny-Dowall

He’s heard the rumours and admits they were a concern, but Shaun Kenny-Dowall says he has no intentions of leaving the Sydney Roosters.

The New Zealand international centre is one of the NRL club’s longest-serving players having first linked up with the Roosters eight years ago after moving to Sydney as a backpacker from across the Tasman.

However, there’s been speculation the club have been shopping him around to other teams despite being under contract for a further two years.

“I have still two years to go and that is all I need to know,” Kenny-Dowall said on Thursday.

“I have heard stuff from fans in the street, but I am comfortable here at the Roosters.

“I’ve had a chat with the club and they have said I have another two years and that is where I left it.

“Nothing more has been said since and I am happy to leave it.”

Kenny-Dowall is one of several Kiwis at the Roosters and the centre said he feels well at home at the club and, if he were to leave, it would be a huge wrench.

“I would be silly to leave, especially now with the team going so well,” he said.

“I have plenty of friendships with all the Kiwi boys and also lots of friends with the Aussies as well.

“It makes it very homely here and I love it.”
