The Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm both face a critical bounce-back opportunity when they clash at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night. Sitting just two points adrift of the top eight, the Roosters need a response after last week’s 31-18 defeat to Cronulla, with every match now vital to their finals push.
The Storm are also reeling after an 18-16 upset loss to Manly – their first home defeat of the season – which dents their top-two ambitions. In team news, Sandon Smith replaces Chad Townsend in the halves for Sydney, while injuries to Victor Radley and Billy Smith see Ethan King and Siua Wong promoted.
Melbourne are without Cameron Munster (personal reasons) and suspended forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona, weakening their spine and middle. Tyran Wishart starts at five-eighth with Garlick and Bradley coming onto the bench. The Roosters will be eager to avenge last year’s 48-18 finals thrashing, but they’ll need to lift considerably against a still-dangerous Storm outfit.
