The Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm are both chasing redemption when they meet at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night, with finals implications on the line. The Roosters sit just outside the top eight and are desperate to rebound after a 31-18 loss to Cronulla, with every game now crucial in their playoff push.
Melbourne are also smarting after a shock 18-16 home defeat to Manly – their first at AAMI Park this season – a result that dents their top-two hopes. Sydney will have a new-look spine with Sandon Smith replacing Chad Townsend in the halves, while injuries to Victor Radley and Billy Smith open the door for Ethan King and Siua Wong.
The Storm are without star five-eighth Cameron Munster (personal reasons) and enforcer Nelson Asofa-Solomona (suspension), with Tyran Wishart filling in and Bronson Garlick and Jack Howarth added to the bench.
